For the second season in a row the Northend Elite supporters group has picked a Canadian as its Toronto FC player of the year.
Goalkeeper Greg Sutton follows in the footsteps of captain Jim Brennan, the NEE's player of the year in 2007. Voting was conducted late in the season by a poll of members on the NEE website, thenorthendelite.com.
The Northend Elite supporters group is giving its Pink Streamer Award for 2008 to one of the locals, Toronto FC general manager Mo Johnston.
The Pink Streamer Award traditionally recognizes the opponent that Toronto FC fans most love to hate. Last year it went to Landon Donovan of the Los Angeles Galaxy. Donovan was unforgettably showered with pink streamers when he a took a corner near the Northend Elite's home section of 127 during the Galaxy's visit to Toronto in 2007.
