 TFC is worth fighting for

We live in a fast food world, a world where people want quick results and want to achieve quick goals with quick actions.

To quote Thomas Jefferson, “anything worth having is worth fighting for.” This describes our feelings towards TFC and our efforts to see Mo Johnston out of this club and far away from this city.

Sometimes that fighting cannot be done in one day, one hour, or one moment, but rather it needs to be sustained and continued through several days, months and years.

Jimmy B: The crux of the matter

“Jim Brennan is a wonderful guy.”

This is where I should have stop reading. I understand that in this modern age we live in, anybody with $2 to pay at an internet café and some free web space is suddenly a journalist or an expert, since I have my own internet connection I guess that makes me a scholar.

Many articles have been written this offseason about our captain or even on who should be our captain, and most of them have been so far off the scale it has me question the soccer intelligence of some of the people behind them. I am not questioning their intelligence (which I could) but rather their soccer IQ. After all, it takes more than 3 years at BMO and a subscription to Setanta to make someone understand the history, roots and workings of the beautiful game.

Gobble Gobble

This weekend was Thanksgiving, a time where we eat and give thanks to everything we've been blessed with throughout the year.

It should have also been a weekend where we (TFC Supporters) could see our team getting closer to a playoff spot for the first time in our short history. Instead we had to swallow another last minute goal that took 2 points away and made our situation nothing to be thankful about.

Give Us Dichio

In an era where players, managers and owners put money ahead of everything else, playing for the jersey is a distant past. Gone are the days where players would play their careers at one club and where kids grew up dreaming of one day representing their local city and club.

How can we expect players to honor the jersey they wear when the clubs use them as commodities?  Like a piece of gum they are chewed up and spit out when they lose their flavour. Players know the business of soccer and understand that their value to a club is nothing more than a bell curve.

Self Fellatio

Many pages have been written since TFC played their first game at BMO about the TFC “Supporters” and the atmosphere. When we reach the last third of the season in year 3, people look at the new kids on the block (Seattle) as a measuring stick to what support is or could be in MLS and some feel that Toronto is being pushed to the sidelines. The question we should all ask ourselves, is the Toronto support as good as some claim it is?
